Storm at Sea
27” x 22”
Traditional block pattern 'Storm at Sea' creates an optical illusion of curves and is made from recycled scraps behind a realistic free-motion embroidery of a land parked boat named Night Fever 2. Using only fabric and thread, the embroidery is appliqued to a hand quilted traditional quilt created by the artist. The boat sits in dirty daylight, a tongue and cheek nod to it’s name. In contrast the dark disorienting pattern behind reminds us of the looming hurricane season always in mind in the gulf south.
